Tim Berners Lee proposed the "Mesh" which ended up to be the World Wide Web to CERN management in March 1989:
There are certain design decisions that make sure the internet is not truly prepared for Graph processing yet:
- Hyperlinks are not "typed" - you'll not know what information is behind a link in advance
- Hyperlinks are unidirectional - if a target page moves you'll not actively know about this
It is interesting how the original motives behind Berners Lee's proposal where alread pointing into a true graph oriented solution. So we might have to go back to the "drawing board" and sketch what is still needed to get closer to the needs.
